Hi everyone,
Diwali is the colourful festival of lights. With this festival right around the corner, it’s time to start sprucing up your home. The presence of decorative candles, diyas and lights enhance the aesthetics of any home decor. To uplift the festive mood and ambiance around you, make these beautiful sparkling candles with me which will make your Diwali certainly sparkling too!
Material Required:
- Paraffin Wax
- Soy Wax
- Aluminum Pillar Candle Mould
- Wick
- Fragrance of your choice
- Stearin
- Decoupage glue
- Golden Sparkle
Tools required:
- Double Boiler
- Pouring Pitcher
- Wooden Skewers/ Popsicle sticks
- Hot Air Gun/ Hair Dryer
Step 1: Melt the Wax
I am using blend of soy wax and paraffin wax (3:1 ratio) for this project, you can use only paraffin wax as well. Take the blended wax in almost double amount of your pillar mold. Melt it on the double boiler.
Step 2: Prepare the Mold
Grease your pillar mold/molds with coconut oil/olive oil thoroughly specially if you are using a new molds. I love to make candles in pairs so I’m using
Step 3: Assemble the Wick
Fix the wick into the bottom of the mold using tack it or glue tab.
Place a wick holder to keep the wick in the center at top.
Step 4: Prepare the Wax to Pour
Add the fragrance in the melted wax at the temperature of 160° F. Mix it well and bring the temperature of melted wax to 120° to 130° F as we are using soy wax.
Step 5: Pour the Wax
Pour the wax slowly in the mold/molds and leave to settle down.
Step 6: Poke the Holes
Poke several holes around the wick using a wooden dowel to avoid any sinkholes/cavity in your candle.
Step 7: Repour the Wax
Repour a little wax again to fill the holes which will give the finishing touch at top. Leave the candle at least for 2-3 hours to cool down completely.
Step 8: Unmold the Candle
Apply a little pressure on mold and that will loosen any spots that are sticking to the mold of candle. Then gently pull the candle out with the help of wick.
The perfect pillar candles are ready.
Step 6: Add Sparkle
Now time to add some Fairy Sparkle to the candle. Apply decoupage glue with the help of brush on small areas.
Add sparkle on the applied glue with the same brush.
Now, little upwards from the lower section add lesser sparkle by spreading a bit of previously added sparkle. Continue the process until the lower part of the candle is covered with sparkle.
And its done. Here are some views of the completed candles.
