DIY Floating Candles

Hello crafty friends,

This is Priyanka Shashi and I am back on the blog with a very easy candle making tutorial. If you have never made a candle before, try making these super cute colourful floating candles.

Without any delay let’s start with the material list:

  1. Paraffin Wax
  2. Silicon Muffin Moulds
  3. Wick
  4. Candle Dye/ Dyes (as per choice)
  5. Fragrance (optional)
  6. Stearin (optional)

Tools required:

  1. Double Boiler
  2. Pouring Pitcher
  3. Wooden Skewers/ Popsicle sticks

Step 1:

Melt the paraffin wax and add the candle dye. Add stearin in the wax before melting, in the ratio of 1:10(optional)

Step 2:

Add the wick in the centre of the mould.

Step 3:

Add the fragrance in melted wax once it is removed from the boiler and has cooled down a bit.

Step 4:

Pour the wax into the moulds.

Step 5:

Set the wick at the centre from the top by holding it for few seconds. Or you can do the same with the help of popsicle sticks quickly before the wax starts settling. Leave it to cool down completely. This is the best part of these pretty small candles that they take hardly 10 to 15 minutes to harden, of course depending on the weather.

Step 6:

Once the wax has hardened, remove the candles from the silicon mould as you take of the peel of the banana.

Step 7:

Trim the wick up to 1/4 inch on the top of candle. Yeah! its done. The floating candles are ready.

Repeat the process in different shapes and colours to make as many candles as you want in no time.

Step 8:

The way of displaying these candles is very important safety wise as well as for the appearance. First of all, floating candle are always meant to float in water so don’t burn it on any base. Sharing below few ideas of displaying these cute floating candles.
