Decoupage gift box with gold distressing & texture work.

Hello arty-crafty friends!

Today it’s me, DT member Daksha on the blog with an inspirational project using the newly released decoupage papers. First I want to say, using these papers feels just like spreading butter. You won’t get any wrinkles and they are very smooth.
So today I am sharing a beautiful decoupage gift box which you can use as a jewellery box, a chocolate gift box or for gifting other knick knacks.

You can select the print of your choice. I have selected a peacock print. I must say it’s a very pretty design and the quality of paper is perfect for decoupage work. So here is the picture of my completed project.

Step by step instructions:

Step-1: First, I selected this white box which was already gessoed. Next, I selected the printed area which was perfect for this box. Using Deco Magic decoupage glue, I adhered the paper on the box.

Step-2: After it dried, I used a sand paper to smoothen the edges.

Step-3: I have used coordinating chalk paints inside and out. To get the desired colour, I have used two chalk paint shades .

Step-4: At the bottom and on the lid to give a contrasting effect, I have used darker shades by mixing two chalk paints in blue and green shades. To add texture, I used the texture tool.(mixed colour and retarder). On the lid, did some light stenciling work on the left side with the same mix of colours.

To highlight the edges of the lid, I have used metallic gold paint. Did dry brushing with metallic gold inside the base of the box. Also did little bit of stenciling work inside the lid with the same mix of colours. Also did some stenciling at the top. I did the highlights with metallic gold, using the same stencil. Believe me it’s looking amazing!

Thank you for stopping by, hope you have liked my project, do try as the store has amazing new collections of these Filament decoupage papers…and please don’t forget to share your projects.
Love & Hugs
