Vintage Window – Mixed Media Decor

Hello Friends!

Harshada here on the blog today with a simple mixed media art using Little Birdie handmade flowers.

Little Birdie handmade flowers are super gorgeous, vibrant, delicate, designed according to themes and they are available in different sizes and shapes. They are so attractive that they enhance just any project.

I’m here to share a tutorial about how to create a beautiful mixed media plaque using these flowers.

So let’s get started..

I had a small MDF plaque with me which had become quite old. I just wanted to give it a new look. Therefore, I decided to use it for this project.

As it had few stains, I decided to give it a single coat of white Acrylic gesso and let it dry naturally.

The next step was to create the desired texture. I had decided to create a vintage style window on this surface, therefore I had to create a wall-like texture first. I used Brick Stencil and Mixed Media Paste to create a the desired texture.

I also wanted a moss-like texture on the base, therefore I mixed Texture Sand with Mixed Media Paste and applied randomly on the base.

Note: You can use Stone texture paste or Grainy Texture paste also to create this effect.

After everything dried, I drew a vintage window with a planter beneath it.

Next I stuck air dry clay on the drawn part. For the roof, I stamped a wooden printing block on the clay before it dried. This created a beautiful floral pattern on the window roof. For the planter/pot, I adhered ice cream sticks using Silicon Glue.

Then, I started adhering the clay leaves and creepers on the pot.

After the clay dried, I gave a coat of Black Gesso on the entire surface and left it to dry.

After the gesso dried, I used chalk paints- Tuscan Teal, Kiwi Mojito, Wild Wasabi Fortune Cookie and brown and green acrylic colours to paint the base. After the colours dried, I used Metallic Wax Antique Gold to highlight the brick texture.

I have used black acrylic colour on the sides of the base and on the outlines of the window, to create more depth.

I filled the pot with wool from my stash. I then started adhering the beautiful, tiny Little Birdie Handmade flowers Pearl Petites – Cherry and Natalia – Boho Vibes

I sprayed little white acrylic on the walls and applied Metallic Wax Silver Glitz on the window. Lastly, I adhered a small quote stamped on a paper and my project was ready.

I hope you like this project.. Give it a try!
