Quick Upcycled Planter with Deco Transfer

This is DT member Divya here with a new Little Birdie ‘Deco Transfer’ inspiration. In this project I have used a waste tin can and transformed it into a beautiful planter with the help of Deco Transfer sheets launched by Itsy Bitsy’s own brand Little Birdie. Let’s start with the project.

Here is my Buddha planter created with the help of a Deco Transfer sheet.

In this project I have used an old tin can, white acrylic gesso, Buddha Deco Transfer sheet, archival Ink pad, gliding golden flakes, gliding glue and Decor varnish matte.

In the first step, I have covered my tin can with white acrylic gesso by giving it two coats. I left it to dry naturally. Then I chose some designs from the Buddha Deco Transfer sheet according to the size of the can and fussy cut the designs.

I removed the transparent film on the sheet and placed the design upside down on the can. Place the design as per your choice. In the next step, I took a piece of sponge and soaked it in water and then squeezed the extra water. Then I dabbed it on the design till it was completely wet and the design was visible. After a minute I removed the white sheet very carefully and I could see the magic! The design got transferred to the can.

With the help of archival ink pad – Plum and a sponge dauber, I distressed the edges and gave some highlights around the design. With the help of bubble texture stencil I gave some texture on the plain areas with a dauber.

In the end, I varnished the whole can with Decor varnish matte and then applied gliding glue here and there just for an interesting effect. Next, I applied golden flakes on the glued areas and brushed out the extra flakes. I made few holes in the bottom of the can and fill the can with soil and planted a sapling. You can transform your own can and enjoy watching your plant grow too! .
