Quick And Easy Festive Coasters

Hello arty-crafty friends,

Sabiha Khan here from the Itsy Bitsy design team with a quick and easy project ideal for the festive season.  As our life is coming back to normal and we are enjoying the festive mood, today I have come up with a picture tutorial on making some colourful festive looking coasters which you can use at home or gift someone.

I have used the newly launched archival multi-surface paints from Little Birdie. These paints are quick drying and come in 24 beautiful bright shades. These are just perfect for any home decor project.

Now lets start with the step by step process. Lets get started….

Step 1:

Take 4″ by 4″ MDF coasters and use Golden Oak wood stain to give it a stained look.  Use a soft cloth to apply the stain. Wood stains come in different shades and are awesome to use.

Step 2:

Take a pencil to draw some bold floral designs on the surface. Next, use a Fevicryl black outliner to draw desired designs.

This is how it will look once that is done.

Step 3:

Now, take archival multi-surface paints of your choice to fill in the designs. You can use a thin paint brush to fill colours.

The colours I used are Tangy Tomato, Sea Wave, Dandelion, Lilac Flair, Pink Swirl, Snowy Peak and Lime Tango.

This is how the coasters looked after I painted them.

Step 4:

I added some white and black dots in the background to enhance the look of the floral image. Also mixed Tangy tomato and Dandelion multi-surface paints to get the orange shade.

Step 5:

Finally when the paints dried, I applied two layers of Deco Varnish – Gloss to give a shiny glossy look to the coasters and to protect them.

I hope you try making some in the same way for your home.

Love Sabiha
