Painted Tote Bag

Hello Friends, Sabiha Khan here! I am back with a beautiful inspiration for you today.

Hope you all are doing good and enjoying crafting while at home, just like me.
So lets first have a look at my project and then see how I made it.

As you can see, I have used a fabric tote bag and used Little Birdie Glitter Fabric paints to decorate it. These paints come in 12 attractive shades and can be used on surfaces like wood, canvas, plastic, and of course fabric. As we all know that we should avoid using plastic bags to save mother earth. This tote bag comes handy for using as a shopping bag or even as a tote bag to carry along.
So without wasting much time, let’s learn to make this in few easy steps….

Step  1 – I have taken a fabric tote bag from Itsy Bitsy store. They are available in two different sizes. I have taken the 12″ by 13.5″ size. Next, I took some masking tape (1.5 inch) to mask few areas of the bag to create triangular patterns to be coloured. You can seen it in the picture.

Step 2 – Take fabric glitter paints of your choice and paint  the triangles on the bag using a stencil brush. Before starting to paint, just insert a cardboard piece to avoid messing up the back of your bag. You can use a simple paint brush too if you don’t have a stencil brush. Here I have used  Cherry Sparkle, Lime Glint and Teal Glint Fabric Glitter paints.

This is how it looks when all the three colours are applied.

Step 3 – Now let the paints dry properly for at least one  hour. Then remove the masking tape. It comes out very easily from the fabric without leaving any sticky marks.

Step 4 – To make the triangular design more visible, I took some coordinating coloured embroidery threads and made some lines with simple running stitches on the triangle boundary.

Step 5 – To make my bag look more attractive, I took some coloured felt pieces from my stash and used Little birdie thin cut dies to cut some beautiful flowers.

Step 6 – I made flowers with the felt die cuts and adhered a half bead in the middle. Finally stitched the three flowers on the bag to make it look more beautiful..

Ta da ……. A beautiful tote bag is ready to flaunt.

The lovely tote bag is ready is few easy steps.
Hope you all loved this bag. If you make one, please do tag Itsy Bitsy and me to let us know that you loved it.
