Mixed Media Candles With Little Birdie Metallic Wax

Hello crafty friends!

I am DT Daksha here with my second post of this month. As you all know that this month Itsy Bitsy’s home brand Little Birdie has launched metallic waxes. I have made mixed media candles using Thai clay and metallic waxes today.

Here is the step by step instructions for these mixed media candles.

#1-First I have prepared my candle base using glue. Then prepared all the clay embellishments using Little Birdie Thai clay and moulds from my stash. Next, I stuck all the clay embellishments using gel medium. To add an added textured look, I used half pearl strings.

#2- In the next step, I applied a coat of Grainy Texture Paste on all the clay parts and the bottom of the candles.

I applied a coat of white gesso in the rest of the areas.

#3- After it was dry I gave a coat of one step Crackle Medium on the upper part of these candles .

#4- Once the Crackle Medium was dry, I gave a coat of black gesso on my candles. You can see the beautiful crackle effects in the pictures.

#5- Next, I used Little Birdie metallic waxes on the black gesso..

Here in the picture, you can see beautiful crackle, and metallic wax effect on my candles. All clay embellishments got highlighted . Finally, I gave a coat of spray varnish  and my mixed media candles were ready to use.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you got inspired by my project and will try to play with Little Birdie metallic waxes.

Love n hugs

Daksha
