Heart and Soul- A Mixed Media Layout

Hi Everyone, Saadia here

I want to share with you a mixed media layout today. Little Birdie flowers are so beautiful and versatile. These can be used on scrapbooks, layouts, canvas, cards, home decoration items.  When I saw Little Birdie’s  blue and white flowers in the kit , I knew I wanted to  make a layout.  I don’t make layouts often. But this time, I couldn’t resist myself! I hope you like it.

Lets start :

    • I used a 12x 12 inches canvas panel for the layout. Glued book papers to it. Then, I applied diluted Mixed Media 2 in 1 Paste to it. (Picture 1)

    • Next, I mixed Little Birdie Texture Sand with Mixed Media 2 in 1 white paste to get a grainy texture. This texture sand is so beautiful!! It’s perfect for creating additional layers of texture. We can mix it with Mixed Media Paste, paints and other things.  (Picture 2)

  • I applied that mixture of texture sand and mixed media paste through a stencil. It’s better to use a big stencil for it. This grainy mixture is a bit difficult to apply through a fine detailed stencil. (Picture 3)

  • While the canvas was drying; I covered the chipboard shapes with black gesso.
  • Thereafter, I applied Alcohol Splash spray in Frosted Pool and Color Splash spray in Charcoal and Ocean Mist. I diluted the colors with a bit of water spray. (Pictures 4 and 5)

  • Thereafter, I took some wire and made a frame from it , covered it with diluted white Mixed Media Paste and positioned the frame with my picture. (Picture 6)

  • After that, I arranged the flowers and other embellishments around the frame. Once I was happy with the arrangement, I glued all of them with Little birdie Soft Gel Medium-Matte. Gel medium gives time to move the embellishments if one wants to modify the arrangement. (Picture 7 )

  • Then, I applied Little Birdie Crystal Drops and Mixed Media Stones in some areas. The Crystal Drops and stones are great for filling gaps in the composition. ( Picture 7)
  • Next, I highlighted some areas with Little Birdie Tinted Metallic Paint in Silver Oak color and added few splatters of Charcoal Color splash spray.
  • Finally, I added few finishing touches and a sentiment. (Pictures 8 and 9)

I hope you like this layout.   Thank you for visiting the blog today.  Take care stay inspired and craft along!!

Love

Saadia Nawaz.
