Handmade Money Envelopes / Wraps using the Watercolor Embellishments

Hello guys,

This is Mukta here and I want to share some envelopes and a card I made with the Little Birdie watercolor embellishments. Along with that, I am also here to share my experience of using these products with you.

The entire Watercolor range is really useful and the embellishments are specially amazing. They make life really easy when you are looking for a convenient solution without having to draw pretty sketches.

I am not a watercolor or a coloring person in general…I am always scared about coloring and shading. Its a nightmare for me to stay within the lines while coloring. So watercolors are never my go to choice and I do not have a lot of accessories and colors. But the quality of paper used are awesome…so even when I made mistakes…I can correct them. The ink doesn’t bleed or seep….even after layers of colors and water. After I finished colouring, the paper was still intact which is a sign of real good quality!

These embellishments are unique in design, self adhesive are ideal for customizing with colours of your choice. You can paint them with watercolour paints, watercolour pencils, ink washes, distress inks, markers, color splashes and more to match your projects. These are ready to use and add dimension and interest on cards, scrapbooks. journals, mixed media and more. The high quality paper has great absorbency and avoids wrapping.

Lets start with the tutorial now…

I started with the pack called ‘Abloom’. I coloured these  watercolor embellishments with  distress inks. I colored all the bunches and a few single flowers. Here you can see my coloring process.

I coated the entire image with water. I have used 2 colors here – Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry.

First I dropped some Spiced Marmalade and then some Picked Raspberry.

I let the water do its blending… waited for a few seconds then I picked the excess color with a tissue. Look at the smooth blending I got doing absolutely nothing.

I repeated this step twice and my flower was ready. It took me just few minutes to do this!

In a similar fashion I colored all my images. Because they were pre-cut, I didn’t have to bother about the fussy cutting. Also if the color goes out of the lines, do not worry…..wait till the image is dry and use a correction pen.

Now it was time to make my envelopes. Here is a template for the same. I have used a 9″by 10″ white textured cardstock. In scored it at 3/4″and 8 1/4″ on the 9″side. I turned the paper 90 degrees and scored at 31/2″ and 7 1/2″  on the 10″side. Please refer the image to see where I have cut to get the flaps. The diagonal lines indicate area to be cut. I  then folded and burnished and adhered the flaps to get my envelope.

You can use it as it is…I made a ‘V’ cut from the center and got a fancy envelope. Cut you own design just make sure the cuts are crisp. I then covered the envelope with some scrap pattern paper and cardstock and gave it a ribbon closure. You can even use magnets or brads. To embellish the envelope, I have used Classic Frames – Watercolor embellishment. I have gold heat embossed it suing the Emboss It pens. These are amazing….use it to know it.

Then I assembled my embellishments on the envelopes and sprinkled some sequins…I was done! Here are images of front and back and  closeups….

Following the similar process I made 1 more envelope and 1 card. Here are the images.

I hope you all liked my tutorial and projects.

Hugs
