Grungy Decorative Mixed Media Panel

Hi friends, DT member Nandhini Vasandan here.

Here I am with another beautiful mixed media inspiration for you all.

Here is the step by step process about how I used different mediums to create this wonderful art piece.

Step1:

I have taken an MDF board and few cutouts and have coloured them with charcoal chalk paint.

Then I used ‘Wings’ silicon mould and modelling clay to make clay embellishments. Do check out the wide range of moulds available at the store.

Step 2:

Next, I wanted to create textures in the base. So I have used Little Birdie Grainy Texture Paste and Crackle paste and few stencils to create the texture. Then I took mixed media stones and mixed media paste and mixed them with  a palette knife and applied at random places. This gives a grungy effect to the project.

Step 3:

I have arranged all the elements using heavy gel medium. Again I coloured the entire surface with Charcoal chalk paint. Now comes the interesting part. I have started playing with different colours. Used Wild Moss, Tuscan Teal , Blue Spa, Lemon Chiffon, Drift Wood , Salsa Red , Apricot Butter to highlight the textures. Then dry brushed with white gesso.

Step 4:

I have used metallic waxes and sparkle paste to give shimmery look. After that I have added few primed chipboards and beautiful handmade flowers. To add more interest I used metal micro beads shimmer gold and embossing texture paste Avocado Smoothie. Finally added thermal balls at random places.

Here are few more pictures of the project.

Hope you all have enjoyed the tutorial. See you soon with another inspirational project.
