Hello Creatives,
Ashwini Vinayraj here! This is my first post on the blog. It feels really wonderful to be a part of Itsy Bitsy Design Team and to work with awesome art and craft supplies.
When I started creating this clock, my mind was completely set for a vintage look but there was also a floral theme running in the background. So, I tried to mix both my ideas and created this vintage clock with a floral theme. I have also used stone texture to add more depth to the clock.
Usually I don’t use much of flowers in my creations, but certainly after laying my hands on the handmade flowers from Little Birdie, I decided to use the entire lot I had in my stash.
Let’s start with creating:
Take a round MDF board. I picked mine from the store and it measures 12″ by 12″.
The first step is to draw a small circle inside with a diameter of 7″. Apply 2 coats of white chalk paint to the outer circle and brown (here I have mixed brown with black to get a little darker shade) as shown here. As i have decided to make a wall clock, i have drilled a small hole in the center before hand. This is to avoid the mess to drill a hole at the end of creation.
Next, I cut two decoupage papers and stuck them on the outer circle. I have separated the two circles by using Little Birdie Stone Texture Paste. This paste is so easy to work with. It creates a beautiful stony finish once it dries completely.
At this point, I have used a mini stamp and stamped on the outer circle randomly so it looks more like a print.
Using Mixed Media Paste I have inscribed numbers with the help of a spatula, tooth pick and a plastic cone. The plastic was filled with Mixed Media Paste to get perfectness. I have also fixed a primed chipboard cutout at the center.
Used Pearl Drops in a brown shade around the stone texture to add a further vintage feel.
Added some more primed chipboards, handmade flowers and an antique chain. Adhered all these using silicon glue and heavy gel medium.
After i adhered all the chipboard, flowers and chain. I also fit a clock mechanism which has golden clock hands. Selected this color to match with the Vintage look. So the final outcome is here.
