Door Hanger With Chalk Paints

Hello Crafty Friends,

Priya Mishra here with a new project.

It’s winter, a season when we get to enjoy the cold and the warm sun. I am sure you all love a warm and cozy place to work in, at this time of the year. I am giving a makeover to my craft room. Recently I bought a beautiful big storage organizer and now I’m sorting everything, labeling, and trying to be more organised. When I had to make my DT project, I thought of making a ‘Door Hanger’ for my Craft room. Whenever I see that, I feel like going in and start creating something exciting.

I created this using some warm Chalk Paint shades from the new Little Birdie Chalk Paints colours. These are beautiful colours with nice pigmentation.

Isn’t this bright and attractive? Now let’s begin with the process.

Step 1: I took an oval shaped MDF board. As I have to hang this, I made two holes on top and used a string to make the hanger.

Step 2: Next, I took out the string and prepared the surface. For this, I applied Little Birdie white gesso allover using a sponge dauber. You can also use a brush. Allow it to dry completely.

Step 3 : I decided to use the new Chalk Paints for this project. Before I start, here is my Chalk Paint collection from Itsy Bitsy.

I decided to use shades of Yellow and Pink, so I chose the Bubble Gum and Mango Crush Chalk Paints.

Step 4: I applied the chalk paints all over the base. Bubble Gum from one side and Mango Crush from the other side and blended them in the centre.

Step 5: Now, I mixed 2 in 1 gesso & texture paste with Bubble Gum Chalk paint to make a coloured texture paste and created some patterns for the background.  Now this looks super cool!

Step 6: Then, I started decorating my piece with some flowers, metal embellishments, craft pellets and sequins. Then I attached the string again & it was done…

Hope you like this project. Do participate in this month’s Blog Challenge.

Till we meet next

Create & enjoy

Priya
