Hello crafty friends!
DT Daksha here with my 2nd post for this month and the last post for this DT term.
These six months went so fast. I’m so happy to get this chance to inspire and learn a lot in return. I want to say thank you to all my crafty friends who liked my work and appreciated it.
Today I am here to inspire you with a decoupage home decor piece with faux wood effect and lace work.
Now, let me explain the step by step process.
#1 : I have taken a 12″ round MDF base. On that with a pencil and scale, I have marked vertical lines as you can see in the first picture. Then with a sharp tool, I scored those lines to get deep score lines. After that I applied white gesso. Once the gesso dried, I applied three colors of chalk paints in vertical lines and with that I have used brown and black chalk paints on my deep score line to give a faux wood effect. Then using a thick hard bristle brush and brown & black mixed chalk paint I added to the faux wood effect. I am really very happy with the result as it looks very pretty. Hope I am able to capture that in the picture below.
#2: now using Tinted Metallic Paint Silver Oak and a floral stencil, I stenciled all around. Before this step, I placed my image in the centre and marked that area with light pencil mark.
#3: When the stencil work dried properly, I decoupaged the image in that marked area using decoupage glue and gave two coats of varnish.
#4: By the time my varnish was drying, I made a plastic cone and in that I put Little Birdie 2 in 1 Mixed Media ( little diluted).
#5: Next, using that Texture Paste cone I gave an outline to the stencil design. It will give a lace effect. You can also add more free hand designs but here I did not want to cover my faux wood effect.
#6: After that, I used Little Birdie black Pearl Drop and created small dots on the inner and outer sides.
Here you can see…
#7: Finally, I decorated the piece with Little Birdie chipboard shapes and flowers. I used minimal decoration to keep the main focus on the faux wood and and the lace effect.
Thank you for stopping by. Do play this month’s blog challenge where you can create anything with Little Birdie Pearl Drops. Hope to see your unique creations.
