Decorative Caddy – DIY Decoupage

Hello friends, I am Neha Singh, Brand Ambassador of Itsy Bitsy. This is my first blog post. I wanted to create something very unique with very limited raw materials and something which is not very time taking to make.  I saw this really cute wooden caddy on Itsy Bitsy’s online store and decided to go with it.

For this project I used a mini wooden caddy of size 12x12cm.  Colour of the caddy was of a light shade, so applying gesso as primer was not required. I have used a butterfly print decoupage paper for this project.

After roughly measuring the area of the caddy to be decoupaged, I cut the paper accordingly using a pair of scissors.

Then I decoupaged it over the surfaces using Deco Magic glue. Next ,I left it to dry completely for 15-20 minutes.

For the remaining two sides of the caddy I chose to add some handmade flowers in order to give it a more lively and colorful vibe. So I used Little Birdie Pearl Petites Vivid Palette – handmade flowers and pasted them over the surface one by one using random colors with the help of silicone glue.

After that, I wanted to highlight the edges and the handle of the caddy. I painted the edges and the handle with Little Birdie chalk paint – Bubble Gum. After that I left it to dry for 10-15 minutes.

Lastly I applied two coats of varnish over the decouapaged and painted area and left it to dry for another 15-20 minutes. I used Little Birdie Decor Varnish – Gloss.

The cute caddy  is ready in no time!

Attaching few more photos of the project below.
