Hello everyone,
It’s Vini here today. Each country has its own culture and identity. I have created a project inspired by embroidery motifs and white brick walls of the beautiful country ‘Hungary’. The motifs are mostly flowers and birds characterized by bright colours.
I have worked with the water based Little Birdie Archival Multi-Surface paints here, which are non-toxic, have high coverage, do not require varnish for sealing and can be used on a variety of surfaces. I have used the paints on wood and marble for this project and I am very satisfied with this new range of paints!
Lets begin with the project!
I painted a raw MDF box with Iris Bloom multi-surface paint. I achieved a good finish in one coat of the paint without having to use gesso. The paint also dries very fast.
I took a piece of marble that could align with the top of the box and painted Hungarian motifs with different colours of the multi-surface paints. To do this, I found a perfect Little Birdie folk art stencil with the motifs I needed!
Stenciling can be difficult on a surface like marble so I traced the motifs with a pen and then painted with a fine tipped brush.
In the same way, I used the stencils Live life in full bloom and Believe
and painted words with the Black Pearl – Multi-surface paints.
Further, I filled up the space with tiny dots and flowers using the muti-surface paints with a brush. Here is how the top looks!
I added clay ropes made of air dry clay on two sides of the marble to give it a better finished look.
Next, I added a brick pattern on all four sides of the box with white chalk paint Tattered Lace , stencil Rectangle jumble ,and a stencil brush from the store. Here is how the side looks.
To continue with the pattern on the top, I painted some birds and branches with the multi-surface paints over the brick stenciling with the help of the stencil – Chirpy heaven.
