Read answers to all these questions, discover more about her interesting journey and catch a glimpse of a step by step project by Saloni in this interview. Don’t forget to leave your comments for her.

Let’s see how Saloni feels about being featured in ‘Crafter in the Spotlight’ this week!

It feels great to be featured in the “Crafter in the Spotlight”. Thank you Rashmi Maa’m, Anitha and the entire team of Itsy Bitsy for this opportunity.

Rashmi Closepet M.D Itsy Bitsy: Tell us a bit about yourself & your background?

Saloni Agarwal : Hello Everyone, I am Saloni Agarwal. I am basically from Arunachal Pradesh and I am now settled in Bangalore. I am a CA by profession. I love listening to music and enjoy travelling. Crafting is my passion and a great stress buster for me.

RC: How did you get into crafting?

SA: From a very young age, I was inclined towards art and craft and I used to make handmade gifts for my near and dear ones. It was in 2016 that I decided to take my interest in crafting to the next level and chose to be an entrepreneur with the support of my family.

RC: What is your favorite type of craft?

SA: I like experimenting with different styles when it comes to art and craft. My recent hangover is mixed media. I just can’t get enough of it and keep falling in love with the art every day.

RC: What are your favorite products at Itsy Bitsy?

SA: That’s a real difficult one to answer. Once I go to the Itsy Bitsy store or shop online, it’s impossible to restrain myself. I’d say papers, handmade flowers, embellishments, pattern papers, Chalk Paints, alcohol sprays, stencils and silicon glue and the newly launched tinted metallic paints.

RC: If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

SA: First of all, I wish we all could buy anything we want in a blink of an eye or probably create a shop where you get free craft goodies.

RC: Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

SA: I would say stamps, stencils, colour sprays, papers, everything…. Almost all the products that I have got from the store! The latest one is tinted metallic paints and chalk paints.

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?

SA: I love experimenting & do not restrict myself to any style. I always try to make and learn different techniques and styles. I love to do mix media projects the most.

RC: How do you organize your time for crafting?

SA: This is really a tough question. I also wish I have more free time like others crafters, but considering the fact that I have a day job, it’s really difficult to find time but the passion for craft keeps me going.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft

SA: My tips to the crafters are “keep doing it and enjoy your work, just believe in yourself. Don’t be afraid to try out something new.

RC: Your all -time favorite quote

SA: Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.

Here is a gorgeous project by  Saloni  & the step by step procedure:

I took a diary and applied gesso on the cover. Then I used modelling paste to create a textured effect.

I have used spray paints to create effects in the background after the base dried.

Then I used some metallic paints here and there until I got the desired effect and I have colored and pasted some embellishments too.

I used the tag from one of Itsy Bitsy’s paper pack. Here’s how is looks now:

Supplies used from the store:

  1. Mont Marte Gesso
  2. Mont Marte Modelling paste
  3. Stencil
  4. Gold Alcohol Splash-Golden Mocha &Purple haze
  5. Tinted metallic paint- Glazed berries
  6. Embellishments
