Crafter in the Spotlight Meera Savla

Hello creative folks! This week in ‘Crafter in the Spotlight’ an ardent crafter, Meera Salva shares her story about her arty-crafty journey with us.

Meera was enthusiastic about art and crafts since her teen years but took up serious crafting just a few years back. As Meera says, crafting is a stress buster for her and she loves to try out different forms of art and craft.

Rashmi Closepet M.D Itsy Bitsy : What are your favourite craft forms?

Meera Savla :My favourite art forms are decoupage, mixed media, and Scrapbooking. But, I love to explore different art forms. It’s a stress buster for me!

RC:If you are granted an arty-crafty wish, what would you ask for?

MS: Unlimited Craft Supplies for free……!!

RC:How did you come to know about Itsy Bitsy?

MS: Through a crafty friend of mine.

RC:Tell us about your most exciting shopping experience at Itsy Bitsy.

MS:When I came to know about the store at Kurla, I visited just to see what products are available but I ended up with big-time shopping!

RC: What craft products attract you the most?

MS:The products which attract m the most are Resin, Varnish, Crackle Paste, Crackle Medium, Chalk Paints, Gel Medium.

RC:What is your ideal crafting time in a day?

MS: At night after my daughters’ sleep.

RC: What are your ‘Can’t live without’ craft essentials?

MS: I just can’t live without ‘Colours’!

RC: How long have you been crafting?

MS: I am crafting in my teens when I was about 18-19 years old. But, started doing it professionally from March 2017.

RC: Which 3 words describe your crafting style the best?

MS:  No Copy Paste!!

RC:Any inspirational tips for newbies and craft enthusiasts?

MS: Never underestimate yourself. Never give up, just go on creating and shape your dreams.

RC: Any tips for fellow crafters to help them organize their workspace better.

MS: Drawers of different sizes help to organize things better.

RC: What inspired you the most in your creative journey?

MS: Patience….just create what you imagine…don’t rush as if in a race!

RC:According to you what’s the best way to overcome a creative block?

MS: Things created with ‘Passion’ will turn out the best!

RC:Why do you think people should continue with ‘Handmade’?

MS: Handmade itself speaks a lot. It is made with time, effort, creativity and enthusiasm…that makes all the difference!

RC: Other than crafting what do you enjoy the most?

MS: I truly enjoy playing with my kids.

RC: Which are the product categories you check out most often for new arrivals?

MS: Stencils, colours, and mixed media products.

Here is a step by step project by  Meera Savla 

1-I  have  taken a rectangular plank and applied gesso all over.
2 – Next I adhered corrugated sheet..
3 – I  applied Chalk paint (Butternut Squash )all over.
.
4 – Next I applied  Sailing Sky chalk paint  above and below the corrugated sheet and dry brushed with the same colour on corrugated sheet.
5 – Next I tied both ends of burlap rope to brads and stuck it as shown in pic.
Next I  placed some charms and wooden embellishment to add glam to the project  and its all done
