Comfortable & Cozy – Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello arty crafty friends, Mukta here!

Today, I have a mixed media project to share with you all. I was inspired to make this layout after seeing the overwhelming response I got for my ‘Precious Memories’ layout, which I made last month. If you missed it, just click HERE to see it.  My last layout was very feminine with loads of bright blossoms….so this time I decided to experiment with a cool color palette with hues of deep purples, lilacs, teals, turquoise and soft blues along with some  beige, white, brown, black. I really hope you guys like this one.

I have a pictorial tutorial to show you how I made this….so lets begin.

I started with a beige lacy pattern paper which is a part  of the new release (Cottage Lace) by Itsy Bitsy which is available right now available in selected locations only….but I am sure it will be available to everyone very soon. I quickly did a random placement of few flowers and embellishments to see how it would look and then got to work.

In areas where I wanted to shape my layout, I applied a coat of Little Birdie 2 in 1 Modelling Paste- White, after diluting it with little water.

Once it was dry, I did some stenciling in random places and allowed it to dry again. I sprayed it with diluted acrylic paints, in shades of lilac and light blue. I layered it a few times to build the color up, and then adhered my paper to a 12 by 12 inch chipboard.

Loved the way it looks right now. Then I added some corrugated cardboard and scrap papers to form some layers on the right side of the base. To add more texture, I also added some lace trims to the layers. I have used neutral colors because I wanted to add textures and layers to the layout without taking away from focus from the central part.

Most of the job is done here. I just went ahead and started to add flowers, chipboard shapes and few die-cuts from my stash. I added more texture using sisal fiber and thermocol balls dipped in gesso (using these as small stones).  I added a chipboard sentiment (another of Little Birdie’s new release) Always & Forever towards the right top corner and a printed sentiment Comfortable & Cozy at the bottom.  To finish the layout, I added Dazzle Cocktail- Blue Hawaii and purple microbeads with little white paint splatters. I hope you all liked my layout and enjoyed reading this post.

Here are some point I want to make :-

  • Everything on my layout is adhered using Monte Marte matte gel medium, Little Birdie Gel Medium- Gloss and Little Birdie Craft Glue.
