” Believe in Yourself ” – Mixed Media Canvas

Hey guys,

Mukta here! Today, on Valentine’s Day, I am sharing a mixed media heart canvas with you all.  I made this canvas to celebrate the idea of loving and believing in oneself. Well I think we are our first Valentine because even when you have no one… you will always have yourself!! So LOVE YOURSELF and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF…….ALWAYS AND FOREVER.

I have a pictorial for you all. Without much ado lets get on with it…

I started with a heart shaped MDF panel and pretty lacy papers from Little Birdie Cottage Lace paper pack.  I fussy cut the paper to fit the panel and distressed it to get it a rough look and then adhered it to the panel.

Then I mixed some Texture paste, Texture sand and pink chalk paint to get this fun mixture and I stenciled on the panel using a decor stencil. You can avoid using grainy texture paste if you want. I used it to tone down the chalk paint and make it look a little pastel. I let it dry and then added some Crackle paste randomly. Its important to let it air dry for best results.

In the meantime, I picked out some chipboard shapes and added black gesso to it. Then I painted it with tinted metallic paint in pink and I also added some coral color to add a little shade.

I layered a lot of paper scraps and got my sentiment ready to be added to the panel which was from L’amour paper pack. Once completely dry, I did a little stamping using black archival ink. This added so much interest to the panel. I  have stamped around the focal element to bind everything together.

Now I arranged everything on the panel and started to play with flowers. It took me a lot of time to figure out the look I was going for. I wanted to give a soft look to my canvas, so I went with pinks, pastel coral and whites. To get a more vibrant tone…you can add reds and peaches to the canvas.

Once everything was ready I dry brushed with gesso to bring all the elements together and added the final touches with sparkle elements and sequins. I also added some splatters and sentiments to complete my artwork.

Here are a few more closeups of this artwork. I hope you like my canvas…I sure had a lot of fun making it.

Hugs
