Sparkled Cards With Sparkle Paste

Hello everyone,

This is Anila, back again at the blog today.

Today I am sharing some ways of using Sparkle Pastes. They can be used in every form of art, right from mixed media to decoupage. However, today I am focusing on how we can use them on cards.

These sparkle pastes were launched last year by Little Birdie, Itsy Bitsy’s own brand. It is a very versatile product which can be used in various ways. They surely add some beautiful sparkle to your projects.

Today, I am sharing my experiments with them.

1) Using them as paints.

Yes… Sparkle pastes can be used with a brush as a colouring medium. The consistency of these pastes is perfect for application with a brush.

Here, I stamped the image with black ink. I coloured the flowers with a brush. I have used Whipped Cream (white) Sparkle Paste to add the shading effect to the images.

So you see we can achieve different shades by mixing colours with Whipped Cream.  You can also mix the coloured ones to get different shades. I have used yellow and green on the leaves to get this look.

Tip: The colour/shade of the paste depends on the mixing ratio.

2) Creating an Ombre effect.

As I mentioned above, we can get shades of colour by mixing whipped cream SP with other coloured SPs.  Here, I am using the stencil and applying the Arctic Shimmer Sparkle paste with a palette knife.

Halfway through the design, I picked up Whipped Cream Sparkle Paste on my knife and blended them together. This created a gradation of shades.

3) Using with dies

Apply a uniform layer of the paste with a palette knife on a cardstock piece. Let it air dry. Use these cardstock to die cut shapes.

Here, I have die cut the flowers and leaves. On a white card base. I foam mounted the stitched oval die-cut. Stamped the sentiment. Assembled the flowers and made this card.

4) Tone on Tone.

We can use the pastes to achieve tone on tone bases. I have used Whipped Cream through a stencil from my stash, on white cardstock. Let it air dry.

Mounted the panel on a card base. Here I have used a burlap butterfly embellishment and a heat embossed sentiment to complete my card.

Hope you got inspired to use this versatile paste in various ways. Try them out and add variety to your creations!!
