Mixed Media Decor – Express

Hello everyone,

Jinal Savla here with a mixed media inspiration for you today!

Step 1

I took  a monogram small letter ‘e’ as my base. Then I sanded it to make it smoother.
Step 2
Applied Little Birdie Stone texture paste and Glass bead gel medium.
This process helped me get the grungy look that I was aiming for.
Step 3
Once it dried, I applied black gesso
Step 4
Stuck my elements, i.e. Little Birdie chipboard, paint brushes and resin elements. Once stuck, I let them dry before priming it with black gesso.

Step 5

Using dry brush technique, I applied Muted Teal chalk paint as my base coat followed by Sailing Sky chalk paint. I let these 2 coats dry and applied Bubble Gum chalk paint randomly on the elements. Finally applied Orange Splash to give a shadow effect.
Step 6
Once the chalk paints dried.. I applied Little Birdie metallic waxes – Berry Glaze, Antique Gold and Copper.
Step 7
Using Gesso, dry brushed on few elements that I wanted to highlight. Also, added sentiment  ‘Express’ that justifies the base letter.
Hope you enjoyed step-by-step tutorial as much as I had fun creating it.
If you are inspired by my project then do participate in the ongoing Mixed Media Challenge.
With Much Love,
Jinal Savla
