Decorative Festive Tealight Candle Holder

Hello my arty-crafty friends.

I hope you all are having great time. Vidhu Thareja here, back with another inspirational tutorial. Diwali is round the corner and you all must be busy in making gifts for your loved ones and creating something beautiful to decorate your homes. Diwali is considered to be the festival of lights and keeping that in mind, I have designed a beautiful tea-light candle holder which is very easy to make.

As you all must be aware, the ongoing blog challenge #31 is “Anything goes with Multi-Surface Paints”.  These paints are water-based and can be used on any type of surface.  24 exciting shades are available to choose from.  I have a step-wise picture tutorial but before going through the tutorial have a look at my project….

I had this peacock shape tea-light candle holder in my stash. I started with sanding the surface to ensure that there was no dust particle on it. This is a very important step.

.

When it comes to decorating my home in Diwali, I love to go for bright colors. So, in this project I have used 2 beautiful shades of Little Birdie multi-surface paints- Icy Aqua and Raspberry. As you all know that these paints can be applied directly, without priming the surface. Here I needed to blend 2 shades, so I have used a sponge. If you are using a single colour then use a brush instead of sponge.

Since the multi-surface Paints are water-based, 2 shades blends perfectly with ease. I allowed the colours to dry. They dry very quickly.  On the crest and the beak, I applied Camel Artist’s Acrylic Color- Metallic Gold. On the edges I rubbed same metallic colour with my finger. Now the entire range of Camelin is available at Itsy Bitsy.  I have applied a single colour on the stand. I chose to go with Icy Aqua.

Now it is the turn to decorate the T-light candle holder. I have used a very interesting product and that is WOW embossing glitter powder. This product is versatile to use and can be used in any project where we want to add some embossed effect. The most exciting part of this product is that 167 beautiful colors are available in this range.

First, I mixed some multi-surface paint- Icy Aqua with Little Birdie mixed media paste. I mixed it well and then I applied it through a stencil with the help of a palette knife. I removed the stencil and immediately sprinkled glitter embossing powder – Vintage Peacock, on top of that and heat-set it. I just loved the embossed effect.

Finally, I pasted some kundans using Little Birdie Craft Glue to give it a completed look.

Place a single or double T-light candle in it and enjoy a fancy decor.  This is a perfect decor for Diwali and makes a beautiful gift too.

I hope you liked my project and find it inspirational also. Do not forget to participate in the current blog challenge #31 which is all about creating something beautiful using Little Birdie multi-surface paints.
