Rashmi Closepet M.D Itsy Bitsy: Tell us a bit about yourself & your background?

Shubhangi Vibhandik: I am Shubhangi from Bangalore. I am a native of a small city, Dhule in Maharashtra. I have completed my graduation in Horticulture followed by an M.B.A. in Finance. A home maker and a mother, I love listening to songs. Crafting is my love and passion. It is a stress buster for me. I love to try out new things in crafting.

RC: How did you get into crafting?

SV: I had a flair for crafting since my childhood. I loved making cards on special occasions for my friends and relatives. I was also good in drawing, painting, rangoli, etc. I have participated and won prizes in several art related competitions. My father always supported me and now my husband supports me in a big way. Lucky me!

Two years ago, I had made an explosion card for my husband on his birthday and posted it on Facebook. My work was appreciated, and I was encouraged to start conducting online classes and take orders. Back then, I had no idea about scrapbooking or mixed media. I had made the explosion card by looking at a few images. And thus, my crafting journey started!

RC: What is your favourite type of craft?

SV: I enjoy all forms of art and craft – Card making, Mixed media, Decoupage and Up-cycling. Scrapbooking and Mixed media are my all-time favorites.

RC: What are your favourite products at Itsy Bitsy?

SV: This is a very difficult question to answer. I like almost all the Itsy Bitsy products. I spend hours and hours shopping in the store. No project of mine is complete without supplies from Itsy Bitsy. I absolutely love the handmade flowers, decoupage papers, glue, chipboards and all kinds of embellishments.

RC: If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

SV: I go crazy when it comes to shopping for crafting material! I will shop loads of craft supplies which I haven’t bought yet. I would love to craft all the time and make unique handmade creations and start my own art and craft classes.

RC: Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

SV: My prized possessions from Itsy Bitsy are flowers, all types of embellishments, chipboards, decoupage napkins, stamps and beautiful laces.

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?

SV: I try to keep my projects simple but unique and different from other projects. I try to fulfill all my customer’s expectations.

RC: How do you organise your time for crafting?

SV: It’s difficult to find time for your hobby when you are a full-time home maker and a mother. But my passion for crafting makes way and helps me find time for it. My husband supports me as well.

Generally, I craft after finishing my morning household chores and when my husband and son are at office and school respectively. I get 3 to 4 hours for crafting. Sometimes, I craft till late night when I have lots of orders to finish.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft

SV: Keep trying whatever your heart desires and don’t give up. Get your priorities straight and find time for crafting. Also, you must be patient since crafting requires a lot of patience.

RC: Your all -time favourite quote?

SV: Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

Here is a gorgeous project by   Shubhangi  & the step by step procedure:

Step by step procedure for shaker card

Materials used

Pretty in Pink paper pack, textured white card stock, handmade flowers, glitters, silicon glue, double sided tape. Everything I used is from Itsy Bitsy!

I am going to make a shaker card using Little Birdie’s Pretty in Pink paper pack. I simply loved these papers.

First I started with a textured white card stock from the store and cut it into 6×6 Inch measurement.

Then I took two papers from the Pretty in Pink paper pack. Cut one of them slightly smaller than the other. I distressed the edges with the help of scissors.

Layered one light pink paper on white card stock using glue. Cut the  dark pink paper according to shaker my element size.

Here I have used an old transparent packing material to make my shaker window. Stuck it with double sided tape on the layered card. Glitters and sequins from the store are used along with shaker elements.

Then I added Little Birdie flowers and a butterfly from the store. Used silicon glue and double sided tape to stick them.

At last added ‘sending love’ sentiments from the Pretty in Pink paper pack. And the card is ready!!
