Altered Diary – Deco Transfer

Hi friends , DT member Nandhini Vasandan with an exciting new project for this month! This month, we are going to show you a number of ways in which you can use Little Birdie Deco Transfer sheets.

I have created a faux wood palette texture using supplies from Itsy Bitsy. I was inspired to create this diary as a gift for a loved one for the summer holidays. Hope you all like it.

Let us now take a look at how I went about to create this beauty.

I took a leather diary and applied white gesso all over it. I used Deco Transfer sheet ‘Vintage Postcard’ for the project. I cut the desired design which fitted on the diary.

Removed the top film of the Deco Transfer sheet and placed it upside down on the diary. Pressed all over it to remove any air bubbles.

Using a sponge, I applied water on the Deco Transfer sheet and once it was completely wet,  I could remove the top layer easily. The beautiful print could now be seen.

Using chalk paint – Charcoal (black) I coloured the edges. Next, I applied one step crackle medium over the black. Once it dried, I used chalk paint – Choco Cookie, Walnut Cream, Sandstone, Driftwood to merge the colors with the Deco transfer sheet.

Then i created a faux wood palette look, using chalk paint – Charcoal.

Finally, I finished it with a MDF cut out and embellishments. In the end I used decor varnish to seal the project.

Thanks.

Nandhini Vasandan
