Adventure Begins- Mixed Media Canvas

I am here with a vibrant and inspiring mixed media canvas using Little Birdie Colour Splashes and few other supplies from Itsy Bitsy. The project was inspired by the beaches and treasures of the sea, an apt setting for the summer.  Hope you all like it.

Let us now take a look at how I went about to create this beauty.

First, I have taken a 8″x10″ stretched canvas from the store.  Then, I created textures using stencils, crackle paste, and grainy texture paste.

I have used nautical themed moulds from the store, cheese cloth, shells and watercolour tiles to add features and textures on the canvas.

Initially, I pasted cheesecloth with heavy gel medium and added the Color Splash sprays – Ocean Mist and Lemon Zing. Then arranged the embellishments as I desired and pasted them with heavy gel medium.

Once it was dry, I applied white gesso all over the embellishments and again used Color Splashes all over it. I had a few chipboards, handmade flowers and few embellishments from “Songs of the Sea “paper pack, and added them to the layout.

Then, I have randomly added craft pellets and included the ‘Adventure Begins’ chipboard that went well with the theme.

Finally, I applied metallic wax – Aqua Sheen and Silver Glitz randomly over the embellishments and the canvas.
